Fall is a busy time for Oak Hills as our high school and college students return to their studies. It is fun to watch our future workforce learn and grow. For many students, employment at Oak Hills is their first job. As these students continue their development we welcome back nurses who were once in their place and now have graduated under our scholarship program to enter our building in new roles with greater responsibility. For us at Oak Hills these changes are routine, we anticipate and expect them each year.
We would like coronavirus to be out of our routine and did not anticipate such a long stay. While we again near the end of our outbreak period we have many new processes, procedures, and requirements that are becoming routine. This week we were very happy to return to several group activities in the chapel including bingo and church services. This was a welcome return to familiar routines. We thank you for your continued support in screening, masking, and social distancing during your visits.
On August 22, 2022 the Minnesota Department of Health and Human Services visited us for our annual survey which was the first we have had in nearly three years. Surveys were paused over the pandemic. We will receive the official results of the survey within 15 business days. While it is very routine to expect the annual survey, they are always unannounced and definitely take us away from our normal routines.
While we continue to focus efforts on financing options and fundraising for the memory care and enhanced assisted living expansion our routine of hurry up and wait will continue over the next several months. Our reason for being in existence is to serve our residents so when we need to pause and focus on immediate needs we will continue to do so.
2nd Annual Golf Derby Raises $14,996.81 for Growing Our Tomorrow
The Oak Hills Memorial Foundation would like to thank the twenty-one teams and twenty-four sponsors in their second annual golf tournament Monday, August 15. This event has several fun Kentucky Derby themed options for participants including the option to tee off from a saddle, as well as a horse race where teams compete to a hole the fastest. Proceeds of this event benefit Growing Our Tomorrow, the capital campaign to expand Oak Hills Living Center adding memory care and enhanced assisted living. This event would not be possible without the dedication of Tim & Lora Rahe and Chad Cooreman. We thank them for their service to Oak Hills.
