April is Volunteer Appreciation month. Our volunteers are truly the icing on the cake, and make everything we do better. The volunteers at Oak Hills do a variety of things. We have musicians that come in and perform for the residents, volunteers that present about program of interest, those that assist with activities such as bingo, card games, church services, outings, baking, crafts, pampering, doing nails, special events, reading groups, and helping transport residents to and from activities within the building. We are also fortunate to have great support from our community and have student groups, 4-H groups, girl/boy scouts, etc come in and help with activities. Volunteers also escort residents to Dr visits, and help keep our garden area and plants looking great for the residents and their families to enjoy. One to one visits are also essential whether it be reading the newspaper, reminiscing, helping write letters, or taking a walk around the facility; having that one on one time with a volunteer brings enhanced quality of life. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Rachal at 507-233-0819 or [email protected]. We will be having an event to celebrate our volunteers on Weds, May 2nd from 3:15-4:45pm with a come and go social hour, and bingo from 4-4:45pm. Thanks volunteers for all you do!
