Working with students and interns, promoting inter generational activities

It is exciting to see more students becoming interested in a career in health care.  We have partnered with several schools and programs to provide internship, shadowing, and clinical opportunities.  We have students coming from River Bend and New Ulm High school to develop job skills.  Other students coming from a vocational class at New Ulm High school to learn hands on behind the scenes type work.  College students that are going for nursing at Rasmussen and Minnesota West are completing clinical rotations here.  We also have college students that need to complete a practicum or internship for graduation in varies different fields – nursing, dietetics, therapeutic recreation, social work, etc.  We have high school students from Cathedral that need to complete service hours that chose to do their volunteer work here with our residents.  During the school year we have Eagles 4 preschool students and Kindergarten students come in and do crafts and games with the residents.  In the summer we partner with Kids connection and Kids Excel to bring the residents and children together for activities.  We also have 4-H groups, girl scouts, and other various youth group coming here throughout the year.  We hope to continue to work with the students as they prepare for the future, and build a deeper understanding and connection with the older generations in their community.
